West Valley residents will soon be able to delight in artisan cocktails, inventive cuisine, and a stylish atmosphere when Copper & Sage debuts its newest location in Goodyear. The spot is slated to open in early October in the downtown area, also known as GSQ, which stretches from I-10 north to Encanto Boulevard and 150th Drive to Bullard Avenue.
Copper & Sage is an “elevated gastropub with southern influence” and the newest experience by Westside Concepts and Chef Evon Profitt. An Arizona native, Profitt found his passion for cooking at a young age – baking pies with his grandmother and cooking Southern comfort food with his mother.
Profitt graduated from Le Cordon Bleu at Scottsdale Culinary Institute and worked at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, where he trained under Chris Knouse, Richard Hinojosa, and Lenard Ruben.
Copper & Sage’s menu includes several fan favorites thanks to its Southern spin. Dishes include Bayou Mussels with Andouille sausage, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, holy trinity paprika butter and a sourdough baguette; Hot Chicken and Beignets made with open-face Texas toast, pickles, spicy slaw, and bourbon peach and pecan glazed beignets; and home-made tagliatelle with Italian sausage, kale, sun-dried tomatoes, lemon cream and parmesan.
“Vintage and warm are good words to describe Copper & Sage,” Westside Concepts Owner Joey Lucidi said. “Whether it’s Tuesday night and you want great bar food, or it’s your anniversary and a special night out, this is the place to celebrate.”
The Goodyear location boasts 4,500 square feet and is one of the first open establishments at the up-and-coming GSQ. The new area is set to be a “vibrant and walkable” hotspot in the West Valley.
Social Design Studio will style the new spot with dark wood accents, stunning light fixtures, leather seats and an open kitchen to add to the establishment’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. The new building is hiring for numerous positions, including servers, bartenders, and hosts.
“We’re excited to be opening in Goodyear at GSQ,” Lucidi said. “It’s more of what we need in the West Valley. GSQ could be one of the coolest places in the entire Valley.”
